Our School

Welcome to Leechpool Primary School, a vibrant and inclusive two-form entry primary school in Horsham, West Sussex.

At Leechpool, we are proud to provide a happy, caring and ambitious environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their very best. We believe that primary education should give children strong foundations for future learning while also developing the confidence, independence and skills they need for life.

Our school community is built around our new three core values:

Empower • Enrich • Elevate

At Leechpool, we empower ourselves and each other, enrich our learning and community, and elevate ourselves to be the very best we can be. These values are woven throughout school life and help our children understand what it means to be a successful learner, a responsible member of our community and a positive influence on those around them.

Learning at Leechpool

We have high expectations for every child and provide a broad, engaging and carefully sequenced curriculum. Strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics sit at the heart of our curriculum, alongside opportunities for children to develop their creativity, curiosity and wider knowledge of the world.

We want children to do more than simply acquire knowledge. Throughout their time at Leechpool, pupils develop independence, resilience, communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Our curriculum and wider opportunities help prepare children for their next stage of education and for life beyond school.

A School Where Everyone Belongs

Leechpool is an inclusive school, and we recognise that every child is unique. We work hard to understand children's individual strengths and needs and provide appropriate support and challenge so that all pupils can participate, progress and succeed.

Children's wellbeing is central to our approach. We explicitly teach positive learning behaviours, emotional awareness and self-regulation, helping pupils to understand themselves, build positive relationships and be ready to learn.

Our pastoral and inclusion teams work closely with children and families, providing additional support when it is needed.

More Than the Classroom

We believe some of the most memorable learning experiences happen beyond everyday lessons. Children at Leechpool benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including sport, music, performances, educational visits, residential experiences, clubs and activities within our local community.

We are also developing our Skills for Life offer, giving children purposeful opportunities to develop practical skills, independence, responsibility, communication, citizenship and an understanding of the wider world.

Our Community

Leechpool is more than a school – it is a community. Positive relationships between children, staff, families and the wider community are extremely important to us.

We value the contribution parents and carers make to school life and believe that strong partnerships between home and school give children the very best opportunity to thrive.

Above all, we want our children to enjoy coming to school. We want them to leave Leechpool as confident, curious and compassionate young people, proud of what they have achieved and ready for the next stage of their journey.
