EYFS Admissions Sept 27

Welcome to Leechpool Primary School

We are delighted that you are considering Leechpool Primary School for your child as they begin their school journey in September 2027.

At Leechpool, we want every child to feel happy, safe and excited about coming to school. Our children are at the heart of everything we do, and our school values — Empower, Enrich and Elevate — shape the opportunities, relationships and experiences we provide every day.

Our Reception children learn through a carefully planned balance of play, exploration, direct teaching and practical experiences. We place great importance on developing confident, independent learners while ensuring children feel secure, valued and part of our wider Leechpool community.

We know choosing a school is an important decision, so we encourage families to explore our website to find out more about life at Leechpool:

Come and visit us

The best way to get a feel for Leechpool is to come and see us in action.

Throughout the Autumn Term 2026, we will be offering individual 1-to-1 school tours for families considering a Reception place for September 2027.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to see our Reception environment, explore the wider school, see learning taking place and talk to a member of our team about your child and life at Leechpool.

Book your 1-to-1 school tour here

If the available dates are not suitable, please contact the school office and we will be happy to discuss alternative arrangements.

Enhanced Transition into Reception

Starting school is a significant milestone and we know that every child is different. At Leechpool, we offer an enhanced transition programme to help children and families feel confident, familiar and well supported before September.

Our transition arrangements go beyond a single visit. They are designed to help us get to know your child as an individual and to give them plenty of opportunities to become familiar with the people, routines and environment they will experience when they start school.

This may include:

  • Opportunities for children and families to visit school before the summer.
  • Stay-and-play or transition sessions in the Reception environment.
  • Opportunities to meet key members of the Early Years team.
  • Information and support for parents about starting school and Reception routines.
  • Liaison with your child’s nursery, pre-school or current setting.
  • Additional visits or personalised transition arrangements where a child would benefit from extra support.
  • Close involvement from our SEND and Inclusion team where appropriate.
  • Sharing important information with families so that we can prepare carefully for each child before their first day.

For children with additional needs, medical needs, anxiety around transition or other individual circumstances, we can work with families and existing professionals to develop a bespoke transition plan.

6-week in parent meeting

We hold a '6 Weeks In' meeting for all new parents – which is an event where you can find out more about the school and speak to our Pupil Voice members, Dragon Team Captains, as well as lunchtime staff and the class teachers.

Some of the parents comments shared from this year's event:

  • Very informative and helpful.  Students very welcoming and friendly.  Great opportunity to meet more parents too! Thank you.
  • Really impressed with how knowledgeable and enthusiastic the students were about their stalls.  Felt I got a lot of useful information on the school and how to support my sons. Thank you.
  • Excellent to chat to the children.  They clearly love it here!
  • Thanks for the opportunity to chat to teachers and pupils.  All pupils are a credit to the school, you should be very proud.
  • A great balance of formal and informal and not information overload. Thank you very much.
