Our Governors

At Leechpool, the Governing Body is highly valued, teamwork being a priority. We work with the school, with the aim of improving standards and striving for excellence.

Good governance is not just about sitting in meetings. We endeavour to stay updated on, and apply, new legislation. Our governors are hands on and assist with school events such as fayres, fundraising events, new parents induction evenings, outings and special events. Governors also attend classes to monitor the impact of the teaching on our learners, assemblies, inset and training days, inspections and LA reviews, to name but a few areas of involvement.

Current parents are welcome to contact governors with questions or general feedback. Please note that parents should always contact the school directly with any concerns. Likewise, we encourage any prospective parents who are thinking of sending their children to Leechpool to browse through our website and, importantly, to visit our school so you can see first-hand what Leechpool has to offer.

Regular Governor Updates

Below is an update of the recent work we have been developing as a Governing Body.   This section of our page will be regularly updated to let all families of the school know what issues we are addressing to improve the provision of education for the children of Leechpool.

Mrs Linda Wlllmott

L A Governor: Joint Lead for SEN/Disadvantaged Children; Joint Lead for PE and Sports

I have lived in Horsham for 36 years with my husband and have 2 children now in their early 30’s and 2 grandchildren, age 6 and 2.

I was a parent governor and Chair of Governors while my own children were attending their Horsham primary school, so I bring a range of past experiences to the Governing Body.

My work background is the NHS; I trained as a physiotherapist at St Thomas’ hospital in London many years ago and then specialised in paediatrics. I worked for many years as a children’s physiotherapist at Horsham Hospital and visited many Horsham schools seeing children for physiotherapy assessment and intervention.

My interest continues to be SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) and I will bring that knowledge and experience to help support the Governing Body.

I moved into health management later in my career and prior to retiring from the NHS in 2022, I was General Manager for Child Development Services for the local community health trust.

I applied to the Local Authority to again be a school governor as I now had the time needed to fulfil the role and a passion for working and supporting children to achieve their maximum potential in their school environment. I was delighted when Leechpool had a vacancy and it is a privilege to be accepted onto the Governing Body. Having met the headteacher, staff and pupils, I was inspired by the inclusive ethos of the school and the enthusiasm and dedication to children’s learning and wellbeing.

As a keen sportsperson, I am pleased to be supporting the PE and sports curriculum at the school as I believe activity and sport at all levels is fundamental to children’s health; providing a solid foundation for the future through participation, competition and team working.
