School Improvement Plan 2021-23

To find out how we are planning to achieve the improvement of Leechpool please view the detailed school improvement plans listed below.  We have set ourselves challenging but realistic targets to ensure that we do the best for the children and continue to be a good school working towards outstanding.


 

Area 1 - Outcomes for Children and Learners

Ensure that the proportion of pupils making expect/more than expected progress from their starting points meets or exceeds national figures in all subjects.

  • Identifying pupils that are not making expected or better progress and intervening effectively to accelerate their learning and resolve the underachievement promptly.
  • Improving assessment and tracking of the pupils with SEND and use this to inform teaching and learning
  • Exploring the reasons for gaps in achievement in different classes and ability groups especially the disadvantaged
  • Ensuring consistency of progress across Year Groups and across Key Stages
  • Ensuring consistency of progress made by pupils with SEN and Pupil Premium.

 

 

Area 2 - Quality of Education

Strengthen teaching so that all is good or better by

  • Ensuring that concepts link the curriculum from EYFS to Year 6
  • Creating knowledge organisers in history, geography and science to exemplify progression.  Aiming to further develop this in all subjects
  • Effective monitoring and evaluation of impact of declarative and procedural knowledge coverage by the Assistant Head for Curriculum and subject leaders (link to knowledge organisers)
  • Research effective retrieval and begin to create low-stakes quizzes for one subject area
  • Use assessment for learning strategies routinely to strengthen learning, resolve misconceptions and evaluate the impact of provision ensuring the children are challenged with high expectations.
Ensuring that pupils’ and their parents/carers are aware of their standards of attainment and achievement throughout the academic year and those high expectations are shared and promoted.

 

Area 3 - Quality of Behaviour

 Ensure that we maintain a good standard of behaviour and safety in the school by:

  • Providing engaging and well-differentiated learning tasks that engender a positive attitude to learning, promote high levels of engagement and build learning to learn capacity. We have identified since pupils have returned from lockdowns, that resilience and stamina are areas that we need to develop.
  • To implement metacognition and Teach Like a Champion strategies across the school.
  • Implementing positive play provision across the school using the 6Rs and Year 6 Play Leaders.
  • Ensure that CPOMS is effectively used and is an accurate tool for recording all behaviour concerns and safeguarding issues.
  • Implement, review and refine the RSE and PSHE provision/policy to ensure we continue to promote positive attitudes to diversity and inclusion.
  • Pupil voice through a behaviour review – looking at how we can become a more therapeutic informed school.
  • To develop ways to become a more therapeutic informed school.
  • To ensure good attendance of all pupils.

 

Area 4 - Quality of Personal Development

Ensure that we maintain a good standard of personal development and safety in the school by:

  • Providing engaging and well-differentiated learning tasks that engender a positive attitude to learning, promote high levels of engagement and build learning to learn capacity.
  • Reducing levels of teacher direction so that the pupils are afforded more opportunities to make decisions about their learning and response to tasks.
  • To implement metacognition and Teach Like a Champion 9 identified strategies across the school.
  • Develop the roles and responsibilities of the six DSLs across school, and to train the current 4 Phase Leaders in addition –to help identify patterns and trends.
  • Implementing positive play provision across the school using the 6Rs and Year 6 Play Leaders.
  • Implement, review and refine the RSE and PSHE provision/policy.
  • Pupil voice through the School Council and their SEF and SIP.
  • To continue to ensure that all pupils have access to a wide, rich set of experiences – introduction of Life Skills passports for all.
  • To continue to develop the role of the Learning Mentor and ELSA across school to ensure any barriers to learning are removed and the well-being of all pupils is addressed.

 

 

Area 5 - Effectiveness of Leadership and Management

Area 5: Effectiveness of Leadership and Management

Objectives: To review and improve School Improvement Planning and Appraisal:

  • Strengthening performance management process to ensure that teachers are held account for the impact of their work on pupils learning and progress.
  • Increasing the frequency and rigour of monitoring processes to evaluate the quality of provision and focus improvement work.
  • Ensure all aspects of the last Ofsted report have been addressed and improvements evident and impacting.
  • Systematically evaluating the impact of school improvement work and report findings to key stakeholders, particularly children, parents and carers.
  • Improving the quality and focus professional development training to meet whole school priorities and strengthen the teaching profile.
